Winter Tires are a Bad Idea on Hot Pavement

There are lots of seasonal maintenance that needs to be performed on your vehicle. Besides a basic tune-up and new wiper blades, you might want to consider driving on the proper tires.

Many drivers might think all tires are the same. However, if you are driving on winter tires all year you could be ruining your tires and suffering from a lower performance. Winter tires contain a more flexible tread than summer or all-season tires. This treading will wear out more quickly in higher temperatures. Tires designed for warmer temperatures are less flexible and better on hot pavement.

During the summer months, winter tires do not have the same handling capabilities as summer or all-season tires. Winter tires will become squishy and soft while going around sharp corners. This can cause maneuvering problems and lead to bad performance. Using the proper tire will save you lots of money down the road.
